Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu has promised to end the power issues that have embattled the University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital Ibadan within the next few days with the provision of 50MW solar grid.
Adelabu made the declaration while on an official visit to the University College Hospital to ascertain first hand information on the power situation in the hospital environment.

While addressing news men after meeting the Chief Medical Director and the management staff of the UCH, the Minister pleaded with the authorities of the institution to be patient with government, saying it is important to reconnect the institution back on to the national grid, but this has to be done through a very thorough process.
According to the Minister, Federal Government under the leadership of Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very much commited to ensuring that power is restored to both the University college Hospital and the University of ibadan without further delay.
He noted that the University of Ibadan and UCH was the first point of call under the phase one of energising education programme of the Rural Electrification Agency(REA), but the initiative was met with rejection by the institution , but the ministry will be coming back to instal 50 MW of solar powered mini Grid that will be able to power all amenities within the institutions.
He further promised that the installation of the solar grid will be a project that will be implemented within a year, and further urged the service users within the institutions to continue to exercise patience with government whose priority is to power all the educational and health institutions in the country.
