Following the sack of Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II from office, Kano State government has explained reasons the Emir was removed.

The Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji, announced the sack at the State Executive Council meeting which held at the Government House in Kano.

While explaining the reasons for the sack, Alhaji Usman explained that the state government took the decision to remove the traditional ruler over allegations of consistently refusing to abide by instructions given to him.

“The Emir of Kano is in total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the state Governor and other lawful authorities, including his persistent refusal to attend official meetings and programmes organised by the government without any lawful justification which amount to total insurbodination.”

“It is on record and in so many instances Mallam Muhammad Sanusi 11 has been found breaching part 3 section 13 (a-e) of the Kano state Emirate Law 2019 and which if left unchecked will destroy the good and established image of the Kano Emirate.”

He further added that the removal was in order to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of the Kano Emirate built over a thousand years.
