When the news broke out that Senator Isaq Abiola Ajimobi had contracted the deadly Coronavirus, little did i know it was going to result to his death as i knew he was a man who was full of life and was an advocate for maintaining good health.
I was very optimistic you were going to come out of the condition a stronger man but my optimism was dashed when few weeks down the line another news broke that you had slipped in to comma and that your condition was very critical folowing complications from the deadly coronavirus.
I was still not going to give up but looked up to God to bring you back and heal you completetely. Those were my prayers for days but obviously God had other plans for you as you were eventually called to glory on Thursday 25th of june 2020.
The news of your death filtered across the country and indeed across the world like wild fire and many were shocked that a man who served his country and his state with all his heart as Senator, a two term Governor and as a Deputy national chairman of the All Progressive Party had passed due to complications from Covid 19.
Senator Ajimobi, a true progressive believed so much in building a vibrant democratic process in the country and in Oyo State where he served as a two term Governor.
Ajimobi will forever be remembered for his numerous achievements one of which was his ability to give politics a masive facelift which attracted many more young technocrats like myself in to the politcal space in Oyo State. He was able to restore peace to Oyo State, a state which was noted for its political brigandage and ever since he became Governor this changed the face of politics in Oyo State.
Without a doubt Senator Abiola Ajimobi will be missed by my humble self and the great people of Oyo State and Nigerians in general for the various achievements and the numerous roles he has played in ensuring that true democracy is entrenched in the country
Ajimobi, my political mentor, father, uncle, brother and friend . You have come, seen and conquered. You touched so many lives , and with your leadership qualities you laid a foundation for so many young ones who have joined politics and the legacy you have left will forever be promoted and your name will continue to live in the history of politics and development of Oyo State. You will be remembered for your good sense of humour and the passion you had for Oyo State
I commiserate with the immediate family especially his loving friend and wife Florence Ajimobi, the Apc family and the entire people of Oyo State on this very sad loss of an illustrious son and it is my prayer that God will comfort us all at this very difficult time.
