British Prime Minister Boris Johnson late on Monday has declared a state of Emergency in the United kingdom as too many people have decided not to listen to governmet directives and has left government with no alternative than to declare a state of emergency uging Brits to stay at home
In a broadcast to the nation Boris Johnson said the situation has forced an unprecedented approach to be taking to save lives and to protect the NHS from the microscopic enemy covid-19.
According to the Prime Minister without a huge National effort, the hope and growth of the virus, there will come a time where no health service in the world will be able to cope and most especially the NHS, hence the reason why its important to slow the spread of the virus to reduce the number of people needing hospital treatment.
He urged Brits to stay home during this pandemic so as not to spread the virus.
He said shops will be closed and no one is expected to leave home except on essetial duties and also warned the police will be given powers to enforce the directives which might attract fines.
He noted that the restrictions will be constantly reviewed as the situation evolves and if necessary will relax them if the situation permits.
He thanked the British people and all those working within the health service for working tirelessly to defeat the deadly virus and also to save the NHS
