The death of former Governor of Ondo State Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, a Senior advocate of Nigeria came as a rude shock to many especially the APC family in the UK .

Akeredolu who passed away early this morning at an undisclosed hospital in Germany, battled a prolonged illness which as a result saw him trasfering power to his deputy Lucky Ayedatiwa who has now been sworn in as the substantive Governor of Ondo State.

In a statement released today in London by the caucus publicity secretary, Demola Alalade, described the late Governor Akeredolu as a dogged administrator who played a pivotal role in the development of Ondo State, the Southwestern part of the country and indeed Nigeria, using his wealth of experience as a lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria to bring decency and equity to governance in the country.

Alalade who described the late governor as a man with great intergrity and conviction noted further noted the huge contributions of Late Arakunrin Akeredolu to the infrastructural and social development of Ondo state saying this cannot be forgotten in many years to come.

He recalled that, the late former Governor was instrumental to the establishment of the southwest security outfit code named Amotekun, which has since its establihment brought peace to the southwestern part of the country and has also given the people of the southwest hope of living in peace and harmony.

Alalade however urged the new Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa to build on the many legacies of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and ensure that a befitting funeral is organised in honour of the late elder statesman.

The members of the APC UK Oyo State Caucus also extended their profound condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people and government of Ondo State as well as to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire people of Nigeria over the death of the former Governor, Arakurin Rotime Akeredolu.
