The Cour D’Appel De Cotonou in Benin Republic has ordered that Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho), be transferred to another detention facility.

This is after the activist’s lawyers complained that his fundamental human rights were being abused.

According to Ibrahim Salami, one of the Cotonou, Benin Republic-based lawyers of Sunday Igboho, the activist needed support to eat and use the toilet because of the hand-cuff.

Before the new order, Igboho was detained at Brigade Criminelle facility based on reports reaching our news desk

Though the new detention facility is yet to be disclosed, it was gathered that the activist would possibly be moved to a Cotonou Civil Prison.

The Ilana Omo Oodua, a Yoruba group, in a statement in Monday morning had said the leg chain and hand-cuff were later removed from him.

Reports also reaching us also narrated how the Benin Republic police two Mondays ago arrested Igboho at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou, while trying to fly from the country to Germany.

The Department of State Services (DSS) had on July 1 raided the residence of the activist in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Igboho had planned a ”Yoruba Nation Rally” in Lagos two days before the raid.

The DSS raided the residence, killing two people and arresting 12 aides but Igboho escaped.

The agency alleged that Igboho was stockpiling weapons, and subsequently declared him wanted.
