Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States after crossing 270 electoral votes, the Associated Press said, following a campaign in which he focused on tackling the coronavirus pandemic and pledged to unite a deeply divided nation that voted in record numbers on each side.

The AP declared Mr. Biden the 46th president after saying he had won Pennsylvania four days after Election Day polls closed.

In a victory speech Biden promised to be a President for all Americans and urged all Amaerican citizens to support his administration to deliver on his mandate of rebuilding a great nation.

He promised to work hard for all Americans to be able to deal with the Covid 19 pandemic that has ravaged the country.

In a her speech the Vice President elect Kamala Harris thanked all Americans for coming out to decide the fate of the great nation and promised to serve them along with the President Elect Joe Biden to make America great again
