The Doyen of highlife music in Nigeria Sir Victor Abimbola Olaiya is dead. He died today at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital at exactly 12 noon.

One of the last standing highlife musician was born on the 31st of December 1930 in Calabar Cross River State and was able to use his musical genre to impact so many lives.

Olaiya apart from being a successful musician during his days was also an entrepreneur that ran a business that imported and distributed musical instruments and accessories across West Africa until his death. He was also the proprietor of Stadium Hotel in Surulere Lagos
